Latest figures from the Office of National Statistics showing that more than 1,800 new businesses have been created in Cumbria since 2010 have been welcomed by Councillor James Airey.
Councillor Airey, who is the Conservative group leader on Cumbria County Council, said: “Cumbria’s businesses are the beating heart of our economy and economic revival.
“These figures represent 1,800 more job-creators in our county since 2010, more people in work and more apprenticeships and training.”
In 2010, the Office of National Statistics recorded 21,745 businesses in Cumbria. In its latest report, the independent statistical body places the number of businesses in Cumbria at 23,585 – an increase of 1,840.
