One of the main concerns that has been raised with me over the last year has been the massive increase in scamming and cold callers here in the Town.
Trading Standards advice is to always say NO to any cold callers, try to avoid answering the door and to look out for elderly or vulnerable friends, family and neighbours.
If you require further advice or wish to report any suspicious activity please contact Trading Standards via the Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline on 03454 04 05 06 or visit www.adviceguide.org.uk. Alternatively you can contact the Police on 101.
The increase in more frequent and severe weather patterns has also seen Windermere Road flooded again this last year.
The Multi-task Group of the County Council, District Council, Environment Agency and the Forestry Commission has been working with the local residents to help alleviate the problem.
A plan to put in a new culvert between the car park and the ornamental gardens is the major works that need to be actioned as soon as the funding can be obtained.
The other minor works around the car park and drains nearby is ongoing as is the bid to find an up stream solution which we hope will stem the volume of water coming down the road and alleviate the flooding.
Traffic issues and speeding was again raised with me and I have asked County to put in place traffic tubes around the Town Centre. The results from the monitoring and the engineers report will be shared with the Town Council first.
Finally, just a reminder that the Grange and Cartmel Wellbeing Group meet on a regular basis at Grange Library. please contact Carol Last our County Council Local Engagement Officer on 01539 713180 for further information or e-mail her at: [email protected]
