Conservative Councillors have welcomed news that South Lakeland District Council are responding to their calls to work closely with Cumbria County Council to help keep homeowners and businesses safe from flooding.
With Storm Angus hitting the county last month, local people were getting increasingly concerned. Kendal resident Nigel Thompson said: “11 months after the catastrophic floods that hit our area, it’s time that Cumbria County Council and South Lakeland District Council cleaned the drains that I have reported to them numerous times since last January!”
Councillor Ben Berry, Leader of the Conservatives in South Lakeland District Council, said: “We are pleased that both Cumbria County Council and South Lakeland District Council have responded to our calls for greater urgency in clearing the drains and gullies. We trust that the work will be completed without further delay.”
