2020 has been a very difficult year for us all so let’s hope 2021 will be much better especially as we have now a vaccine for Covid19.
I have managed to find funding from the County to have a new Speed Indicator Device (SID) installed on Allithwaite Road to remind motorists to moderate their speed to hopefully make the road safer for everyone.
County Council highways have some major works coming up in the new year with the resurfacing of most of the B5277 from the mini roundabout at Lindale ( including the roundabout itself) to the roundabout near Age Concern on the B5271 at Windermere Road in Grange. This will be done under road closures from 1830hrs daily from the 11th January and take a couple of weeks. This is always weather and Covid dependent.
Highways will then move onto Allithwaite Road for more resurfacing between Cartmel Road and Carter Road – that’s the 25th January for 5 nights again weather and Covid dependent.
The County has already carried out works before Christmas on Windermere Road and Dixon Wood Close in Lindale using extra funding having been made available to the County from Central Government
In these unprecedented times, the County has been distributing funds to vulnerable residents seeking help with food and other needs from moneys made available from the Department of Works and Pensions including the free school meals vouchers in the holiday period.
The county has all its contacts online at cumbria.gov.uk with a directory of key local contacts plus if needed there is an emergency support helpline on 0800 783 1966
Please keep safe and hopefully 2021 will prove to be a better year for everyone.
Kindest regards
Bill Wearing
