In January a Grange Multi Agency Flood meeting was held to address the flood issues in the Windermere Road and surrounding area in the Town
This was a well-attended meeting of residents and businesses in the area plus the officers and members of both the County Council and District Council with the team from the Environment Agency (EA).
The flood management schemes that were discussed and will be progressed over the next few months are the upstream works being undertaken by the Forestry Commission in conjunction with the EA and County Council. The work needed to look at increasing the capacity of the car park to hold more water to help alleviate the risk of flooding to the properties on Windermere Road. Finally the major EA scheme is to put in place extra capacity between the car park and the Ornamental Gardens.
These programmes will be closely monitored by all concerned and especially the Windermere Road Flood Action Group. I have arranged another meeting of the Multi Agency Group to update residents later in March.
The next meeting of the Grange and Cartmel Wellbeing Group will be held in Grange Library on Wednesday 13th March from 6.30pm. This is your opportunity to contribute to working together to help promote and improve the health and wellbeing in our community. All are welcome and refreshments will be served.
