I must thank everyone who filled in the Grange and Cartmel Community questionnaire circulated in Grange Now last month. This will be invaluable in setting out our priorities for the next twelve months in our area. If you would like to find out more about the Community Wellbeing Group or would like to join us please either email or telephone Carol Last, Community Development Officer, Cumbria County Council email: [email protected] Tel: 01539 713180.
Recently the County Council put out a clear message to us all saying “Foster care transforms lives” This was in a drive to recruit new foster cares here in Cumbria. The Council already supports over 2oo foster families, but with more children needing foster families there is always a need for more people to join in.
For the vast majority of children in Cumbria, a foster home can provide the stability and support needed to secure a better future. There is a particular need for foster cares who can care for babies (aged 0-2 years old), as well as those who can provide long term placements and care for older children and sibling groups. If you want to find out more about fostering then go to www.cumbria.gov.uk/fostering/ or call 0303 333 1216.
I have had residents contact me again about irresponsible parking in the Town centre. I would ask that motorists please be aware of where you are parking and do not park across dropped kerbs which are there to enable people with restricted mobility to get around. Also parking at road junctions and corners obstructs viewing for both motorists and pedestrians alike causing potential major road hazards. I have asked the police and the County Council Traffic enforcement officers to tackle these problems so please use a little common sense and park with a thought for other road users and pedestrians.
Kindest regards,
Bill Wearing
Conservative County Councillor Grange Division
