Councillor James Airey, the Conservative parliamentary candidate for Westmorland and Lonsdale, has welcomed the announcement that Kendal is to receive an extra £5 million in flood defence funding from the Government.
The announcement by Environment Secretary Theresa Villiers means that the additional cash could now unlock an extra £6.8 million in partnership funding for the town’s flood defences.
Councillor James Airey said: “This is welcome news that will help protect more homes and businesses in Kendal from the devastating consequences of flooding and make sure the town remains a fantastic place to live, work and visit.”
