Pat Bell, the chair of Westmorland and Lonsdale Conservatives, has welcomed the £13.5 million for Kendal.
The funding will be used for projects around Kendal and includes multiple regeneration projects for the town. Projects include the revamp of the market hall, Kent Street, and Market Street.
Furthermore, there will be investment into improved footpaths, and cycle lanes to boost connectivity along the River Kent.
The funding was announced by the Department of Levelling Up, Housing, and Communities on the 20th of November.
Pat Bell (Chair of Westmorland and Lonsdale Conservatives) said;
“I am delighted that the Conservative Government are delivering on their pledge to level up communities across the UK.
“This money for Kendal will help build a better, and vibrant town centre in Kendal.
“It shows a real commitment from the Conservative Government to support communities in Westmorland and Lonsdale.
“I am glad after many years of campaigning for support for our Town Centre, that the Government has supported the Westmorland Conservative calls to support Kendal’s town centre.”
