Meeting locals in Askham!
Today, I had the privilege of meeting with the residents of Askham, and the experience was nothing short of encouraging.
As I engaged with the locals, a range of topics surfaced:
- Connectivity emerged as a significant concern, emphasising the importance of reliable and efficient networks. The need for improved phone signals resonated strongly among the community.
- Road quality and potholes were also raised as notable issues, highlighting the significance of maintaining well-maintained and safe transportation routes.
- Discussions also touched upon the local housing market, with concerns about house prices and accessibility voiced.
- Access to healthcare emerged as another critical topic, highlighting the community's commitment to ensuring that essential services are readily available and accessible.
Despite the challenges discussed, the prevailing sentiment was one of positivity.
In the coming weeks, my campaign will extend its reach to neighbouring areas, such as Appleby, Brough, Kirby Stephen, Ullswater, Eamont Bridge, and more.
I am grateful for the warm welcome and open conversations in Askham.
It was great to pop into the Punchbowl Inn for a pitstop too.
